I’m a teacher. How do I disable the ability for parents to comment on my posts?

It is not possible to disable parents’ ability to communicate on HEARD. HEARD facilitates two-way parent-to-parent and parent-to-school communication and collaboration. As such, it’s a tool for schools that want to foster and facilitate open, two-way communication among parents, teachers and school leaders. If you’re concerned about inappropriate comments, there are a few things to note:

  • Anyone can report or flag a post for inappropriate content. Doing so will send a notice to our team at HEARD to review.

  • If you are an admin, you can delete any post or comment in your group, removing it from everyone’s feed. Or you can remove a person from a group.

  • All users must adhere to HEARD’s member agreement which requires users to adhere to our code of conduct otherwise risk their account being terminated.

  • We encourage your school to develop guidelines for posting that you expect the entire community to respect and follow. Here’s an example you can edit for your school’s use.
